Funeral
A Child-Friendly Celebration of Andy’s Life
Sue would like to thank the (approximately) 200 people who attended our service (11 am on Friday 31st August 2012 at Canford Crematorium) to celebrate Andy’s life. Many commented that the service was a perfect tribute to Andy and many confessed to having enyoyed it. As you might expect, there were some tears but many laughs too.

The service featured Sue’s poem, Sarah’s song (see poems page), Katie’s prayer and a great tribute by Jenny (MOB). There were no flowers at the service; instead Simon put Andy’s film camera and clapper board on the coffin, Paul poured Andy a last pint; Katie gave him his fishing hat and Alex a couple of rolls of gaffa tape which he will surely need.
KATIE’S PRAYER
Dear God,
Thank you for giving us all Uncle Andy. Everyone will miss him, especially my Mum. Thank you for letting us have our “Incredible Unk”. We loved him lots and lots and we always will. I will always remember him.
Please look after him in Heaven. Please let him be happy. Grandma Mary and Granddad Dennis will be with him so he won’t be lonely. I hope there is lots of spicy food and beer up there for Uncle Andy.
Amen
AFTER THE SERVICE
The wake (or “party” as Andy would have preferred to call it) was held at Newman Hall. However, a further fireworks party is planned on 19th July 2013 [Ashton Court]- the day before Andy’s 50th birthday.
THANK YOU
Thanks to all those who helped Sue on the day but especially:
Iain, Katie and Alex for ongoing support and keeping things going at home;
John Smith (cousin of Sue and Andy) for leading the service;
Jenny and Sue for their tributes;
David for providing the “best” photo of Andy, inspiration and support with this website;
Helen (the flip-flop lady) for coordinating the hall and catering;
Sarah for the most brilliant rewording of Piano Man to Cameraman, and singing too;
Tom (our Piano Man) for fabulous playing;
Simon, Paul, Katie and Alex for helping to decorate the coffin and to Katie for a prayer too;
Musical and singing support from Val, Craig, Jenny, Simon, Helen and Jenny.
Roger (someone Sue chatted up in Westbury-on-Trym) for playing the saxaphone as we arrived at the hall;
Julian for organising a show real and playing of the drum;
Jo, Kate & Jess for putting together some photo boards;
Mandy for help with the bric-a-brac stall – we laughed when the kids asked for a party bag after Dad’s funeral but this time we delivered!
